Five minutes up the road from the old carrousel is the abandoned Old Zoo.

You might recognize it from the movie Anchorman…

For fifty years, it housed animals and entertained the masses. Today, it’s a pile of ruins and empty cages. It’s very eerie walking around there. A lot of the cages/stairways seem to be fenced off. However, if you walk up to the second level, you will see that people have cut huge holes into the fencing. ERGO, YOU CAN CRAWL AROUND AND FEEL LIKE A MAJESTIC BEAR OR A FEROCIOUS LION. Anyways, I highly recommend this place for those of you who enjoy zoos and a little bit of abandoned building danger muahaha. And for big thrill seekers, you should go at night. Just be careful not to fall down the steep staircases or run into crazy hobos that’ll shank you.
